Day Provision
Our Day Provision runs 9 am–4 pm on weekdays (with flexible start/finish times on request), offering a truly person-centred programme where members choose from a wide range of stimulating activities tailored to their interests and goals.
You can expect a rich and varied mix, including:
Creative & practical workshops: baking, arts & crafts, media projects, virtual reality, music, performing arts, and film club
Animal- and nature-centred tasks: animal care, horticulture, and working in our on-site garden and animal centre
Independent living & life skills: supported living training through BrainWaves—covering literacy, money-handling, cooking, home safety and more, with off-site practice in local shops, cafés, and museums
Fitness & recreation: swimming, sports, walks, gym sessions, canal-side outings, horse riding, and zorbing
Enterprise & community experience: work placements within local businesses, the development of our own café/shop (MadeBuyWaves), and visits to farm shops and greengrocers for ingredient sourcing
Additionally, we provide:
Social events like Waves Got Talent, Christmas fayres, and theatre outings
In-house therapy & wellness options: hydrotherapy, beauty treatments, spa access, short breaks, and transport included
Personalised, goal-focused support with a focus on social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development
No, they are £2.50 a day for breakfast lunch, drinks and refreshments. Excellent value for money!
Yes, we welcome visitors and encourage families to come and see the centre before making any decisions. We believe it’s important for you to get a feel for the environment, meet our staff, and ask any questions you may have about our services and approach to care. Please contact us to arrange a visit, and we'll be happy to show you around and discuss how we can support your loved one.
To arrange transport for your loved one, simply contact us directly with the details of the required journey. We will coordinate private transport to ensure a smooth, comfortable, and safe trip. Whether it’s for day-to-day visits, appointments, or outings, we’ll make the necessary arrangements based on your needs. Please feel free to reach out, and we'll handle the rest.
Admission to Waves is usually arranged through Gateway to Care and Direct Payment (DP) funding.
1. Gateway to Care
Waves works with various councils in West Yorkshire, simpley get in touch with the correct gatway to care for your council, this is often the first point of contact for adult social care. Referrals can be made via phone, email, online forms, or through a social worker. Gateway to Care will assess the individual's needs and can refer them to services like Waves if appropriate.
2. Assessment & Eligibility
Following the referral, a social care assessment will determine whether the individual meets the eligibility criteria under the Care Act 2014 for support such as day services at Waves.
3. Funding through Direct Payments (DP)
If eligible, individuals may be offered Direct Payments, this means they receive money to choose and pay for care services themselves. This allows people (or their families) to directly commission Waves as their chosen service, giving them more control over their support.

Haven Day Provision
Haven Day Provision, part of the Waves Group, offers a supportive and enriching environment for individuals with disabilities. Their person-centred approach focuses on providing activities that are both enjoyable and beneficial, fostering personal growth and confidence. Participants can engage in a variety of pursuits, including arts and crafts, music, animal care, gardening, baking and cooking, sports and fitness, community outings, and virtual reality experiences. These activities are designed to help individuals explore new interests and achieve personal milestones.
The programme operates from 9 am to 4 pm, with extended hours available to accommodate different schedules. It is inclusive of all disabilities and offers transport options to and from the day centre. Individual plans and progress reports are provided to track development, and meals are available, including peg feeding services. Located in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, Haven Day Provision aims to create a safe and welcoming space where every individual feels valued and supported.
Individuals with Complex Behavioural Needs: Haven is equipped to provide specialised support for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and other conditions that may involve challenging behaviours. Higher staff ratios ensure that each individual receives the focused attention and care they need to thrive.

Yes. Assistance can be arranged during holidays, special events, or for overnight stays depending on individual requirements. We’ll work with you to plan the right support.
We aim to match individuals with carers who suit their personality and needs. Continuity is important, so we try to ensure the same staff support whenever possible.
Very. Support can be arranged for as little as one hour or for longer periods, either daily or weekly. We’ll work with you to create a schedule that suits your lifestyle.
Support can include personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, medication reminders, companionship, and assistance with appointments or travel. Every plan is personalised based on preferences and goals.
